Abstract: In the present doctoral thesis, is meticulously examined the issue of the ecclesiastical property in Greece, especially in the recent years of the new greek state. The economic funds that greek church possessed were the point of dispute between it and the greek state. The exploitation of the state of big parts of land that belonged to greek monasteries, for public purposes the last 200 years, led the church to own today, only the 4% of the total property that had all the previous years in its possession. That’s why it is important with the aid of the state the remaining property to be made good use systematically with the right methods in order this foundation to be economic independent, something that is reality in all the other european countries. Parallely the relationships between the greek church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate are mentioned from the past that there was a violent separation, to today that there exists a mutual understanding and to tomorrow of the hopeful union.
